The Carbery Cheese Diversification Project consists of critical structural elements designed to support the expansion of the existing cheese production facility. Phases 3 and 4 involve the construction of new areas that integrate precast concrete crosswalls, shear walls, and other supporting elements for enhanced building stability and operational efficiency.

Phase 3: Extension – Two-Storey Building

In Phase 3, the extension to the existing cheese diversification factory includes a two-storey structure supported by precast concrete twin walls. These walls are designed as a braced structure, providing lateral stability for the entire building. The twin walls are built off the existing in-situ reinforced concrete ground floor slab, ensuring continuity and strength.

Precast concrete filigree slab floors are supported by steel beams, where necessary, to ensure adequate load transfer and stability. In addition, precast concrete stairs with landings are supported by steel columns and beams, strategically framed to provide vertical support.

Phase 4: Extension – Three-Storey and Single-Storey Sections

Phase 4 extends the factory further, comprising a three-storey area (Area 7) and a single-storey area (Area 10). Both areas are primarily constructed using precast concrete twin walls to maintain uniformity and strength across the structure. The twin walls are again built off the existing in-situ reinforced concrete ground floor slab, providing a solid foundation for the expansion.

The new structure also incorporates hollowcore slabs and precast concrete stairs, designed to align with the overall stability system. This ensures effective load-bearing capacity while contributing to the building’s durability.

Both phases of the expansion project are designed to ensure lateral stability through precast concrete shear walls and to accommodate the operational needs of the Carbery Cheese factory, enhancing both productivity and safety.
