Horgans Quay

Horgan’s Quay in Cork is a ten-storey, two-block residential development incorporating an extensive precast concrete structural system.

We provided structural design and engineering support for the precast concrete works, covering more than 2,000 precast wall and header elements across both building blocks. The scope included structural design and verification of the precast elements, design of connections, and detailed coordination of the precast system.

A key part of the project involved coordination between our precast design and the structural solutions developed by other engineering teams. Particular attention was given to the interfaces between the precast elements and the in-situ concrete structure, including load transfer, support conditions, geometry and connection requirements.

The project required close multidisciplinary coordination to integrate the precast and in-situ structural systems into a practical, buildable and structurally coherent solution.
